OUR MISSION
Stone Soup Marin is a group of volunteers who gather in Marin County to cook and serve homestyle dinners for Jonathan's Place (formerly the Mill Street Center), the only overnight emergency accommodation for adult homeless people in Marin County, CA. We provide a gourmet meal for about 60-70 people each month, and we strive in many ways to provide food, support, and dignity for those who have no place to call home.
As fellow residents of Marin County, we treat our homeless neighbors with love and respect. We use fresh ingredients that are often locally and/or organically grown. Our recipes are enticing and delicious. We provide volunteers to serve our meals; we like to meet the people we cook for and make new friends!
Our volunteers vary from month to month and there is no commitment required to participate. In addition to cooks, we always appreciate folks who can help by providing supplies for the Mill Street Center pantry—donations like milk, cereal, and bread are always welcome. And of course, we greatly appreciate monetary donations to help us buy food. Please visit our DONATE and VOLUNTEER pages for more information.
Stone Soup Marin was founded in 2011 by Glenda Griffith Corning, Fran Halperin and Eric Christ. The organization is headed today by Gabriel Barkin, with help from Janna Barkin and Fran Halperin.
Please visit us on Facebook, and we hope you will join us to cook and/or serve our homeless friends soon!
